How to Select a small pet food extrusion machine？

The temperature control system of a small fish feed maker is crucial to the feed's maturation effect and nutrient retention. Pet food production requires precise temperature control between 120-140℃. Too low a temperature leads to insufficient starch gelatinization (below 80%), resulting in low digestibility and absorption by pets; too high a temperature destroys heat-sensitive nutrients such as vitamins and probiotics, and may also cause the feed to burn. When selecting a model, choose a Twin Screw Pet Feed Extruder equipped with an "intelligent precision temperature control system," requiring a temperature control accuracy of no more than ±1℃ and support for zoned temperature control (separate temperature control for the feeding, extrusion, and discharge sections) to allow for gradual heating and more uniform maturation. Simultaneously, confirm that the temperature control system includes a cooling device to prevent insufficient cooling when temperatures are too high, which could affect feed quality.

The material and structural configuration of the screw directly determine the extruder's lifespan and the stability of feed quality. Therefore, it must be made of 38CrMoAl wear-resistant alloy with a nitrided surface, achieving a hardness of HRC60 or higher. This material is wear-resistant, high-temperature resistant, and has a service life of 1-2 years, preventing uneven raw material delivery and fluctuations in maturation effects caused by screw wear. Structurally, a multi-segment gradually changing pitch screw is preferred, divided into feeding, compression, maturation, and discharge sections. This ensures stable raw material delivery, thorough compression, and uniform maturation, resulting in more uniform feed pellets with a crisper texture compared to ordinary single-segment screws.

The design and configuration of the die head affect the pellet forming effect and adaptability. Given the diverse breeds and sizes of pets, a pet food processing machine equipped with multiple interchangeable die heads is necessary. The die head aperture should cover commonly used sizes such as 1-3mm (suitable for kittens and small dogs) and 3-5mm (suitable for adult cats and medium-sized dogs). Die head replacement should be convenient, requiring no complicated tools to reduce operational difficulty. The die head material must be a high-strength, wear-resistant alloy to prevent deformation of the pore size due to long-term extrusion, which would affect the uniformity of particle size. In addition, a high-quality die head should also be equipped with a "discharge pressure stabilization device" to ensure consistent raw material extrusion pressure and uniform particle density, avoiding problems such as loose and brittle particles or excessively hard particles, thus improving palatability for pets.
